- Receiving financial security
This survey showed about a ratio of 1 in 5 people who acknowledged that they need assistance in managing their finances as they age over seniority. It was mentioned that mental health will degrade over time, leading to memory loss. That said, financial management would be challenging for seniors. On the other hand, professionals think that what seniors need help with is not the management of finances but in figuring out their finances like medical bills.
- Thinking of sudden bills
With the constant worry of living off your savings due to invariable increase of its cost, sudden or unexpected large expenses is just one of some money matters that distresses seniors. It is in this subject that both seniors and professionals have a common ground. For experts, they agree that apprehension regarding unforeseen medical expenditure is the biggest concern for an aging population.
- Cutting the general costs
One of the perks that come with old age is the glorifying senior discounts that they can take advantage in saving money. For instance, seniors can use it to limit their travelling and vacation expenses. However, professionals have a longer term perspective in cutting cost. They advised retired adults to consider working beyond retirement age to accumulate their finances. After that, they should take steps to reduce their ongoing expenses like in cost of housing.
- Maintaining one’s social ties
Even if a number of seniors have complaints in their critical financial position and declining health, most reported having a happy and healthy relationship with their family, friends and even housing situation. This shows that a well established social group is stable and beneficial throughout time.
- Checking on one’s mental health
Optimum mental health and not just physical health must be given attention to seniors. Majority agreed that even if people age it is essential to exercise regularly and eat a well balanced meal. Not only does it keep elders fit and prevent them from contacting serious illnesses but it also keeps them positive and active social wise.
- Obtaining social support
Unfortunately, over 60% of participants from the survey said that young people nowadays are less supportive of elders in comparison to their generation. In addition to that, less than half of the participants approved the notion that their community is satisfactorily providing the necessary needs of their elders. This is an alarming cause and must be taken into account. Social support should always be accessible.
Because of these concerns, Harmony Residential Care Center addresses these issues through providing a Residential Care Center in Ivy Grove SC that allows the older population of the United States of America to live peacefully and with no fear in the future.
